Trump invests more than $200M to reinvent Doral golf resort - slideshow

Butch Buchholz, WGC-Cadillac Championship chairman, stands by the new fountain brought in from Florence, Italy, at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa.

More than $200 million will be invested in the new Doral Golf Resort & Spa, or should we start calling it the Trump Doral? Or maybe the Trump National Doral? Donald Trump hasn't decided yet.

Trump, who bought the resort for reportedly $150 million in 2012 said he wants to make the golf resort the world's greatest tournament space. Hundreds of millions of dollars will go into renovating the approximately 700 rooms, restaurants and retail space, along with the five golf courses on the resort, including the champion-level Blue Monster.

Trump has brought on golf course architect Gil Hanse to redesign the courses to make it more spectator friendlier and challenging for the professional golfers. The PGA Tour has brought on South Floridian Butch Buchholz to organize the new World Golf Champions-Cadillac Championship, which comes to town once a year in March and pits some of the greatest golfers in the world against each other.

Buchholz is the resident expert in bringing a sporting event to the next level after working more than two decades on the Sony Ericsson tennis tournament.
