WhatsApp is a instant messaging app that has been around for some time now. It's consistently been one of the most popular apps on iPhone and Android because it lets you text anyone without eating into your carrier's plan.?
(It's very similar to GroupMe, BBM, and other popular group texting services.)
This weekend, TechCrunch reported that Facebook may buy WhatsApp to tap into the company's network of ~100 million users.
If WhatsApp is acquired by Facebook, it would be interesting to see how Facebook ties the service into its own separate messaging app.
WhatsApp price varies depending on the platform, but it is available for Android (free for the first year), Blackberry (free), iOS?($0.99), Nokia?Symbian?(free for the first year), and Windows Phone (free).
